Bogshoeing trip in Kakerdaja Bog
The picturesque, with numerous bog pools and 8.5 m peat layer, intact peatbog (2400 ha) in the northwest corner of Järva County in the middle of big forests, away from the settlements and major roads. In the middle of the bog-pools is a large red-brown water Kakerdi Lake (6.7 ha), whose depth is about 5 meters. Lake is located 1 km east of the species-rich woods Hiiesaar, an ancient refuge and sacrificial site. In spring and autumn thousands of migratory birds stop in the bog-pools.
The trip starts and ends at the ruins of the Noku farm.
